The management of the Protected Landscape of Barać Caves and the Natura 2000 Ecological Network within the boundaries of the Municipality of Rakovica is the responsibility of this public institution.
With the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy in 2019, the implementation of the project commenced with the development of a MANAGEMENT PLAN for the Protected Landscape of Barać Caves and Natura 2000 area within the Municipality of Rakovica as part of the project: "Establishment of a Framework for the Management of the Natura 2000 Ecological Network".
The implementation of this project is of key importance for meeting the obligations of the Republic of Croatia as an EU member in the field of nature protection. The planned duration of the project is until the end of 2022.
This project will determine the objectives and conservation measures for each species and habitat type of the ecological network in the area of Rakovica. The project also includes the development of management plans that consider Natura 2000 areas in an appropriate manner. A Management Plan will also be developed for the Protected Landscape of Barać Caves, for a ten-year period. The equipment necessary for the development of the Management Plan and the performance of management activities has been provided. The institution also received an off-road SUV for the purposes the project.
The implementing body is the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Energy together with the institutions that manage protected areas through the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020, investment priority 6. The aim of the project is to establish a framework for the management of the Natura 2000 ecological network, within the scope of which applicable and effective management mechanisms will be developed and implemented.
